-- Set New FSB World Record of 750MHz, effectively rewriting the FSB history books! -- (2009/11/11)

Taipei, Taiwan, November 11, 2009 - GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY Co., Ltd, a leading manufacturer of motherboards, graphics cards and other computing hardware solutions proudly announced that the highest front side bus (FSB) score in the October, 2009 F1 OC Highest FSB Challenge was achieved by Team Indonesia using a GIGABYTE GA-EP45T-EXTREME motherboard and Intel Core™ 2 Duo E8500 processor. The result resets the FSB world record to a whopping 750.92MHz, while the GIGABYTE GA-EP45T-EXTREME’s front side bus achieved an awesome total overclock of 3003.69MHz – a massive achievement that highlights Team Indonesia’s skill and prowess as an international overclocking competitor!

The F1 OC competition is held by TheOverclocker.com and brings together the world’s top overclockers representing 13 different countries. October’s event ran from October 1st to 31st, where participants had to submit their FSB scores via an emailed CPU-Z submission. A powerful and stable motherboard is key to any successful FSB overclock, and participants were allowed to use any hardware configuration. Remarkably, three of the top six results came from GIGABYTE motherboards, with Team Indonesia’s score trumping the rest.

"We are delighted to have won two F1 OC events in a row, especially seeing as both wins produced significant improvements on previous world records, while so many of the remaining top 6 scorers in both events also chose to use GIGABYTE motherboards," commented Tony Liao, Associate Vice President of Marketing at GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY CO., LTD. "This unequalled track record in the first season of F1 OC proves that there is no substitute for innovation leadership combined with good quality design and manufacturing when it comes to high-end motherboards. We congratulate Team Indonesia for their achievement and look forward to more record-breaking wins in the coming months from overclockers around the world."

"It’s extremely rewarding to see F1 OC continuing to break through previous performance barriers, even on mature platforms such as the P45," said Nick Ross, Editor, The Overclocker and Chairman of www.f1oc.org. "We commend GIGABYTE and Team Indonesia on their outstanding achievements during the highest FSB challenge and look forward to similar achievements in future F1 OC challenges."

FSB has been the most important overclocking benchmark for over 30 years (when overclocking first began) because it is the most direct way to improve CPU performance. Achieving an FSB of 750Mhz requires outstanding tweaking skills while maintaining temperatures of -100°C on the CPU and -50°C on the North Bridge for stable operation at such high frequencies. Team Indonesia's FSB of 750.92Mhz resulted in a CPU speed of 3003.69MHz – an overclock of 225% on a stock Intel E8500 CPU!

"Team Indonesia has long been competitive on the global extreme overclocking scene, and competitions such as F1 OC are a great opportunity for us to find out the absolute limits of our hardware and to have a blast while doing it," commented Benny Lodewijk, Team Indonesia spokesman. "This FSB world record during the very first F1 OC season is a major milestone for us, and it just goes to show how a bit of finesse combined with top notch motherboards from GIGABYTE can produce some truly amazing results."

-- High-end features on mainstream and low-end products expected to help GIGABYTE maintain market share growth in 2H, 2009 --
(2009/06/05)

Taipei, Taiwan, June 5, 2009 - GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY Co., Ltd, a leading manufacturer of motherboards, graphics cards and other computing hardware solutions recently announced that its proprietary DualBIOS™ technology will be extended to every single GIGABYTE motherboard with immediate effect. The announcement was made at the annual GIGABYTE Computex party held on June 3rd on the 84th floor of the Taipei 101 skyscraper.

The BIOS is the initial boot-up software that allows PCs to find and check all the hardware that the operating system needs to run with. If the BIOS is somehow physically damaged or attacked by a computer virus, the operating system will not be able to boot-up and the PC will be useless. DualBIOS™ provides a backup BIOS that automatically repairs or replaces the primary BIOS when necessary – without any user intervention! The result is a vastly reduced RMA rate (Return Merchandise Authorization – when faulty goods are returned to the manufacturer for repair or replacement). First introduced by GIGABYTE in 1999, DualBIOS™ has traditionally been reserved for only high-end GIGABYTE motherboards due to the cost of the additional BIOS chip.

"Most motherboard RMA issues are related to the BIOS and in the past DualBIOS™ has drastically reduced RMA rates on our high-end products," said Jackson Hsu, Motherboard Product Manager at GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY Co., Ltd. "By extending DualBIOS™ technology to our mainstream and entry level motherboards we are significantly differentiating our products from the competition and providing our customers with a better quality product."

Hsu added, "The second highest cause of RMA goods is faulty capacitors and we're happy to say that 100% of GIGABYTE motherboards that are currently being produced use the best quality Japanese solid capacitors.
